Chapter Eleven

Jaesun

It had been almost a week since Jaesun had gone to visit Sage and Thorne's newest addition. The two, after getting the go ahead from Logan, had retreated back to their home and had pretty much kept to themselves while they adjusted.

Jaesun hadn't been required to write any more articles since the last one. He'd received one call from his connection with the Protectors. Apparently, they were content enough with his work that they were now feeding his father regularly. Still no mention of his grandfather and, though, Jaesun tried not to let that bother him, it truly did.

Wilder had been busy almost every day since they officially decided to start a family. Until now, Wilder had roomed with Orion, but since they still weren't talking—a fact that Jaesun felt endlessly guilty about—and Wilder didn't want Jaesun to have to share, he was building a home for them on the same lot that the hybrid bar sat. They'd have colorful neighbors, but they'd also be close to the pack.

Except, the time that Wilder had said he would be home came and went and there was still no sign of him. Jaesun had had a bad feeling the moment he'd gotten up that morning and it had only worsened.

He thought about calling Wilder's cell phone, but what if he'd gotten pulled away on important hybrid shifter business? That thought quickly transformed to one full of fear. What if he had been pulled away on dangerous shifter business?

Jaesun needed to keep himself busy. He looked around the small room. The walls seemed to close in on him and he felt much too hot. He pulled his shirt away at the collar, letting in gust of air, but the air that entered was just as warm and did nothing to cool him.

He went into the bathroom to splash water on his face but when he did he noticed Wilder's towel from that morning's shower bunched up on the ground, still damp. Jaesun pinched the very tip the towel's corner as he lifted it and put it in the hamper.

They'd told Maggie and Gaia they didn't expect them to look after their room and they'd assumed cleaning responsibilities. Except, when Jaesun looked around the bathroom now, he saw only grime. The corner behind
